13 Main Street, North Easton
Join local Historian, Ed Hands, and the musicians of Unity Church for an exciting presentation of the history, music and art of North Easton’s Unity Church. This historic gem in the heart of North Easton has been an oasis of architecture, art, music and history since it was built in 1875.
This free concert and historic presentation will feature the musicians of Unity Church including: the Unity Church English Handbell Choir, the Unity Church Band, the historic Unity Church Hook and Hastings Pipe Organ, and Unity Church Music Director Linda Brown San Martin on the piano.
Interwoven with the music will be a talk by Easton’s own historian, Ed Hands, on the art, architecture and history of this beautiful building. Take a seat in Unity’s Sanctuary, enjoy an afternoon of music, and discover the building and its Architect, James Ames Mitchell; the beautiful stained glass windows by John LaFarge and Charles Connick that illuminate the sanctuary; the richly carved alter screen by Jacob Kirchmeyer; the carved marble memorials throughout the sanctuary; and the history of the Hook and Hastings Pipe Organ.
Refreshments will be served after the concert and Ed Hands will be available to provide additional information about the history of Unity Church.
